How long does it take?
Your game runs for 60 minutes on the clock, plus 10 minutes of automatic overtime.
We'd suggest budgeting around 90 minutes from door to door — that covers arrival, your briefing, the game itself, a team photo and a bit of a debrief afterwards.
Planning on a drink at Garden Party afterwards? Give yourself another hour or two!
Will we be in the room with strangers?
Never! Every booking is private—even if it's just the two of you. The room is yours.
What should I bring?
Honestly, not much at all:
Reading glasses, if you need them
A water bottle
Playing The Vault? Your group will need at least one mobile phone that can make calls. Please make sure someone has one!
Phones are welcome in all our rooms, but please don't take any photos or videos inside. We'll provide a locker for your bags and other belongings.
When should we arrive?
Please arrive 10 minutes before your booking time. That gives us enough time to get everyone signed in and briefed without eating into your hour. Each player signs in when they arrive and lets us know which room they're playing in, so if you're organising a group, it's worth sorting that out beforehand.
What if we're running late?
Please call us on (02) 6281 5729 as soon as you can, and we'll do our best to sort something out.
If you arrive less than 10 minutes late, we can usually still run your game — you'll just have a little less time on the clock.
Arriving more than 10 minutes late without contacting us will void your booking, and we'll charge the minimum payment or deposit.
Where are you and where do we park?
You'll find us at 2/22 Dundas Court, Phillip ACT 2606 — on the western side of Dundas Court, between Alpine Motors and Jax Automotive.
Having trouble finding us? Search Escape Rooms Canberra in Google Maps rather than the street address — it'll bring you right to our door.
Parking — kerbside spots are 1 hour and the 45-degree spots are 2 hours. There's plenty of room on weekends, but weekdays get pretty full, especially during the day, so allow yourself a bit of extra time.
Can children play?
Absolutely! Here's how supervision works, depending on age:
14 and under — a supervising adult needs to be in the room with them for the whole experience.
15-16 years old — they're fine to play without an adult in the room, but your group needs an adult at the venue for sign-in, the briefing and pick-up.
Your supervising adult doesn't have to pay! In groups of 4 or more players, if the adult is there to supervise rather than play along, they don't pay—and they don't count toward the room's maximum of 7 either. So 7 kids plus a supervising adult works perfectly.
Only one supervising adult per room. Any other adults, or an adult who wants to join in and play, are charged as players.
Children under 5 play free.
Not everyone has to play! Parents, younger siblings and guests who aren't doing a room are welcome to wait at Garden Party while the group is in their session.
Which room is best for kids?
Curio is our most family-friendly room and the one we'd point most kids and families toward.
The Vault is a great next step if they've done Curio or they're after a bit more of a challenge.
The House on the Hill is our spookiest — a bit dark and ominous. Plenty of kids absolutely love that, but it's the one to think twice about if yours doesn't.
Kids of all ages have loved our rooms, and some have found them a bit much — it really depends on the child. If you're not sure, give us a ring on (02) 6281 5729 and we'll talk you through it, or come in beforehand and have a look inside.
Is it scary?
Escape rooms are designed to be a bit stressful! There's a clock ticking and things will happen that you don't expect.
You're never locked in and you can leave at any time. That said, we wouldn't recommend our rooms if you're prone to claustrophobia or panic attacks.
Of our three, The House on the Hill is the spookiest and Curio is the gentlest.
We can dial the scares back a notch if you'd like — just let us know before the day so we can set it up.
Is it safe?
Very! You're never locked in, and you can leave any time you like.
All of our staff are trained in emergency procedures, and every room has smoke detectors, emergency lighting and exit signage. The building has full fire safety equipment and carbon monoxide sensors throughout.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
All three of our rooms are accessible, though some are easier to get around than others. From most to least accessible: The Vault and Curio, then The House on the Hill, which has a raised floor and two small internal steps.
There's a small step at our shop entrance — let us know you're coming and we'll have the portable ramp out and ready.
Please get in touch before you book so we can check chair dimensions and make sure everything's set up for you.
Can I play if I'm colourblind?
Some puzzles in each room rely on colour. Just let us know when you book or when you arrive, and your Game Master will keep an eye out and help over the comms if you need it.
We've done all your rooms! What now?
Amazing effort! We'd point you toward Riddle Room and Missing Klues — both are excellent Canberra venues run by lovely people.
And keep an eye on our socials, because we're always cooking something up.
Can you donate a prize for our fundraiser?
We love supporting local clubs, charities and community groups, and we set aside a quota of donations each month.
Email us at staff@escaperoomscanberra.com with details of your event, your organisation and what you're raising funds for, and we'll let you know what we can do.
Please note that all voucher pickups need to be confirmed with us beforehand — give us a call before you come in so we can have everything ready.

Notes:
Weekend pricing applies from Friday 3PM through the weekend.
If your numbers drop below a tier, the higher rate will apply.
Children under 5 play free, and supervising adults in groups of 4 or more don't pay.
When is Peak Season pricing?
Peak pricing applies during ACT school holidays, plus 20 November to 31 January every year.
Our current peak periods are:
Saturday 26 September – Sunday 11 October 2026
Friday 20 November 2026 – Sunday 31 January 2027
Saturday 10 April – Tuesday 27 April 2027
Saturday 3 July – Monday 19 July 2027
Saturday 25 September – Monday 11 October 2027
Saturday 20 November 2027 – Monday 31 January 2028
Peak periods also mean a longer cancellation window — 120 hours (5 days) instead of the usual 48.
Which days are public holidays?
We're closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day — we'll be back and raring to go straight after!
Public holiday pricing applies on these dates:
Monday, 5 October: Labour Day
Tuesday, 26 January: Australia Day
Monday, 8 March: Canberra Day
Friday, 26 March: Good Friday
Saturday, 27 March: Easter Saturday (Day following Good Friday)
Sunday, 28 March: Easter Sunday
Monday, 29 March: Easter Monday
Sunday, 25 April: Anzac Day
Monday, 26 April: Anzac Day Holiday (Observed)
Monday, 31 May: Reconciliation Day
Monday, 14 June: King's Birthday
Monday, 4 October: Labour Day
Public holiday pricing takes precedence over peak pricing where the two overlap. All bar transactions also carry a 15% public holiday surcharge.
Is there a booking fee?
Yes — a ~5.5% booking fee is added at online checkout, and applies to any payment you make online.
If you'd rather not pay it, give us a call on (02) 6281 5729 or drop us an email and we'll book you in directly.
How do I pay?
Online, we accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, PayPal, Afterpay, Google Pay and Apple Pay. Over the phone, we take Visa, Mastercard and Amex. In-store, we take all cards (chip only, no swipe) but always prefer cash if you have it!
Bookings under $150 are paid in full at the time of booking.
Bookings $150 and over can be paid in full, or you can reserve with a deposit — the amount is shown at checkout. The balance is payable any time before or on, the day.
Booking for a school, business or government department? We can invoice you directly — have a look at our invoicing FAQ.
Can I get a discount?
Book online for a session starting in the next 24 hours and you'll get 10% off your whole booking automatically. Perfect for a spontaneous one!
We also run promotions from time to time — keep an eye on our socials, and make sure you present any voucher or promo code when you arrive so we can apply it.
Can we pay by invoice?
Absolutely! We're very happy to invoice schools, universities, government departments and businesses directly.
Email us at info@escaperoomscanberra.com with your preferred date, player numbers and billing details, and we'll send through a tax invoice with our EFT details. GST is included on all invoices.
Need a tax invoice for a booking you've already made? Just reply to your confirmation email and we'll send one straight back.
What counts as a group booking?
Anything over 7 players, which is the most we can fit into a single room.
8 to 14 players — a Double Booking. Choose any two of our rooms.
15 to 21 players — a Triple Booking. All three rooms.
All rooms start at the same time, so your whole group plays together and finishes together.
Want a Double or Triple with different numbers? Just get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Do group bookings need a deposit?
Yes — we're not able to hold sessions tentatively, so a deposit secures your spot. The amount is shown at checkout, and the balance is payable any time before or on the day.
Deposits are fully refundable if you cancel or change outside our cancellation window. Inside that window, the deposit is forfeited.
Can I book before I know our final numbers?
Absolutely, and most group organisers do!
Book for your best estimate and pay the deposit to lock in the session. You can reduce your numbers up to 24 hours before your booking, and the price is set at that point.
You can still add players right up until the day, as long as the rooms have space.
To change numbers, give us a call on (02) 6281 5729 or drop us an email.
What if we have more than 21 people?
We'd love to have you! Give us a call on (02) 6281 5729 and we'll build something around your group.
Usually that means running two sessions about 90 minutes apart — one half of your group plays while the other enjoys Garden Party, then you swap over. Bigger groups just mean more sessions.
How do I plan a work function or Christmas party?
It's super simple, and you can do it all from our website:
Book your rooms — 8 to 14 people across two rooms, 15 to 21 across all three, everyone playing at once. More than 21 and we'll run two sessions and rotate your group through. Prices start from $35 per player.
Reserve the bar — tables are $150 each and seat around 12. Take all three and Garden Party is yours for $450. We can also open outside our normal hours, Monday to Thursday, for $300.
Sort your food — with a table booked, you're welcome to bring your own or have something delivered. Just let us know in the booking notes or via email or phone beforehand.
Would you rather we arranged it for you? Give us a call or flick us an email. Have your numbers, date and preferred time handy and we'll get it sorted quickly.
December books out fast, so get in early!
What is Garden Party?
Garden Party is our cocktail bar and function space, open exclusively to Escape Rooms Canberra customers and their guests. We're open Friday 2PM to 10PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 12PM to 10PM.
There's a full cocktail menu, plus a great selection of mocktails, non-alcoholic beers and ciders, soft drinks and juices. It's an outdoor space with heaters, fans, a roof over most of it and a small enclosed seating area — though if the weather really turns we may need to close it. If that happens, any payments you've made towards booking the bar will be fully refunded.
Can we get a table at the bar?
You can! Just add it when you book.
Single room bookings — reserving is free, and you'll get 10% off your first round. We hold your table for 2 hours after your room's set end time. If you don't use the bar, or cancel on the day of your booking, we'll charge $50 to the card associated with your booking.
Group bookings — $150 per table, which seats around 12. One table seats up to 12, two seat up to 24, or all three give you the bar to yourselves.
Your $150 per table is a bar tab, not a hire fee — you'll spend it at the bar while you're here. Any amount you don't spend isn't refunded. Tabs are paid at booking and are subject to our cancellation policy.
Booking a kids' birthday? That's a $50 minimum spend and works a bit differently — check out our birthday FAQ.
Haven't booked a table? No problem at all — it's first in, best dressed. If we're full when you finish up, hang about, and we'll seat you as soon as a table opens up.
Can we have a drink before we play?
Of course! Just let us know in the booking notes, and come in at least 45 minutes before your session and grab one at the bar.
We can't reserve a table that early — tables are reserved for after your game — but there's usually somewhere to perch up! Two things to keep in mind: we can't serve cocktails within 30 minutes of your booking's start time, and we can't run a room for anyone who's had too much to drink beforehand.
Can we bring our own food and drink?
Drinks always come from the bar — we're not able to allow any outside drinks (besides water), whatever you've booked.
Food depends on what you've booked. If you've booked a children's birthday area or a table on a group booking, you're very welcome to bring your own food along. Just give us a heads-up beforehand so we're ready for you.
If you're just popping in for a drink, or you've reserved a table on a single room booking, we ask that you don't bring outside food.
Please note that we have very limited refrigerator space and no freezer space, and we can't keep food warm — so please time any hot deliveries for when you'd like to eat.
Can we book the bar for a kid's birthday?
We'd love to have you! Add the birthday area to your booking with a $50 minimum spend, and you'll have a table of your own for an hour after your room's set finishing time.
Garden Party is absolutely fine for kids — we've got a great selection of soft drinks, juices and mocktails (which is what you'll use the minimum spend for), and plenty of families use the space for birthdays.
Bring your own party food! Cake, chips, snacks, party bags, pizza — whatever suits the celebration. We provide biodegradable plates and cutlery, so please don't bring any plastic plates, cutlery, or decorations.
All drinks come from the bar. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times, and we ask that you stay in the bar area — other groups will be in the middle of their experience elsewhere in the building.
How do I plan a birthday party?
Book your room, add the bar, bring the cake.
Rooms — up to 7 players each, and your supervising adult doesn't count toward that or pay. 8-14 kids across two rooms, 15-21 across three. Curio is our most family-friendly room if you're not sure where to start.
Bar — when you book, tick that there are children 16 years or younger, then tick Birthday Parties, then the $50 bar area. That's a table of your own for an hour after your room finishes.
Food — bring cake, party food, party bags, whatever suits. Drinks come from the bar, and please avoid bringing small (glitter etc.) and plastic decorations.
Need a hand? Give us a ring on (02) 6281 5729.
Can we hire the bar privately or outside your hours?
Absolutely!
The whole bar — book all three tables on a group booking for a $450 minimum spend and Garden Party is yours.
Outside our normal hours — we'll open up just for your group for a $300 minimum spend. Please note this is only available Monday to Thursday outside of peak periods.
Give us a call on (02) 6281 5729 or drop us an email and we'll organise it.
Can people who aren't playing come to the bar?
Of course! Friends and family who aren't doing a room are more than welcome to wait at Garden Party while your group is in their session. Just let us know they're coming so we can look after them.
The bar is exclusively for our escape room customers and their guests, so we can't take walk-ins.
Are children allowed at the bar?
Yes! Under 18s are very welcome, as long as they're with a parent or legal guardian at all times.
We've got mocktails, soft drinks and juices, and plenty of families use the space for birthdays.
We do ask that everyone stays in the bar area rather than exploring the building — other groups will be in the middle of their experience.
What is your cancellation policy?
Changes and cancellations need to be confirmed at least 48 hours before your session — or 120 hours (5 days) during peak periods.
Inside that window:
Deposits aren't refundable or transferable
Fully paid bookings forfeit the cost of two players per room booked
Gift cards and vouchers are charged to the same value
Minimum spends are forfeited
Arriving more than 10 minutes late without contacting us voids the booking entirely.
Cancel within 2 hours of making your booking and you'll receive a full refund.
All changes and cancellations must be confirmed to be valid. You'll get a confirmation email — if it doesn't arrive, please contact us, because your booking still stands. Voicemails and social media messages aren't accepted as cancellations.
If you've reserved a table at Garden Party and don't use the bar, or cancel on the day, we'll charge $50 to the card associated with your booking.
Can I change my booking?
If you've paid in full, you can change or cancel straight from your confirmation email, as long as our cancellation policy allows.
If you've paid a deposit, give us a call on (02) 6281 5729 or drop us an email and we'll sort it out for you.
For Double and Triple bookings, numbers can be reduced up to 24 hours before your session. After that the price is locked in, though you can still add players if the rooms have space.
How do gift vouchers work?
Gift vouchers are entered in the payment section when you book online. If it doesn't work there, please try it in the Promo Code section, hyperlinked in the Additional Info section.
Please make sure you present your voucher when you arrive so we can validate it.
Please note that if you cancel inside our cancellation window, bookings paid with a gift card or voucher are charged to the same value.
How do I get my voucher?
We email instant vouchers bought through our booking system straight away.
Physical vouchers and Wrapped in a Mystery can be posted out or picked up in person — you'll choose which at checkout.
Picking up? Give us a call on (02) 6281 5729 first so we can have everything ready for you. Please don't just drop in, as we're not staffed unless we have bookings in, even during opening hours.
Do you take team photos?
We do! A team photo is free at the end of your session — just ask a staff member at the start of your booking and we'll take it on your phone at the end!
Phones are welcome in the rooms, but we ask that you don't take any photos or video inside.
