We love hosting birthdays, and we want yours to go off without a hitch. Here's everything you need to know.Reserving Your SpotIf you'd like to celebrate with us after your experience, first reserve a table in the bar area. There's a $50 hire fee, and the full amount comes straight back to you as credit at the bar. We've got a great selection of mocktails, soft drinks and juices for the kids to work through, and parents are more than welcome to put the bar credit towards an 'adult' beverage instead. This reservation lets you bring your own food and drink into the venue. Without it, we don't allow outside food or snacks in the bar, so it's the one thing to lock in before you plan anything else.Once you've reserved the area, we'll set aside a full hour after your booking ends so your group can settle in and celebrate properly.The hire fee is added to your booking total when you request the area, and we'll need it settled no later than a week before your booking date.Bringing Cake, Snacks and FoodWith your area reserved, you're welcome to bring a cake, along with any snacks, hot food, or platters you'd like. We don't cater the food side of things, so it's completely up to you what you organise.Just one thing to plan around: our fridge space is very limited; we don't have any freezer space at all, and we can't keep anything warm. If you're bringing hot food, it's best to have it arrive close to when you want to eat it.DrinksAll drinks need to be purchased from the bar rather than brought in.Decorations and UtensilsWe'd love you to make the space feel special, we just ask you to skip plastic decorations, glitter and anything small and fiddly that's tricky to clean up afterwards.Please also leave the disposable plates and cutlery at home unless you've cleared it with us first. We'll provide biodegradable plates and spoons so everyone can dig into the cake.Leaving the Space TidyAll we ask in return for the bar area is that you leave it clean and rubbish free when you head off. Our staff will happily handle anything that came from the bar, and we'll provide a bin for wrapping paper, plates, cutlery, decorations and anything else your group brings along. A little teamwork here keeps the space lovely for everyone who uses it.SupervisionAnyone under 18 needs to be supervised at all times while at Escape Rooms Canberra, particularly around the bar. We also ask that your group stays in the bar area once the rooms are finished rather than exploring the building, as there are other guests midway through their own experiences.ReservationsPlease note this isn't a private booking or out-of-hours booking; you're reserving a table within the bar during our opening hours (12pm - 9 pm Friday to Sunday and during most school holidays). If you'd like the bar out of hours, or want it to yourselves during hours, we can arrange that with a larger minimum spend. Just get in touch, and we'll sort it out.

If you are celebrating a birthday party or a special occasion, you can bring a cake, or something similar to the bar to enjoy with your experience. Any other food being brought to the bar requires a minimum spend to be paid at the bar. If you are celebrating a kid's birthday party, the minimum spend is $50 and can be used to purchase mocktails, soft drinks and juices. If you are celebrating any other occasion, the minimum spend is $200. Absolutely no drinks aside from water are to be brought to the bar. All uses of the bar need to be confirmed with a staff member or through the customer booking notes and checkboxes. We only have a very small fridge area (about 30 square centimetres) and no area in our freezer. We also have no ability to keep food warm. Please take all of this into consideration when organising food for your booking!

Our cocktail bar and function space Garden Party is open Friday from 3 PM to 9 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 8 PM. Note: As the bar closes before the last session of the night concludes, bookings in this session will only be able to use the bar before their booking. We encourage you to arrive at least 45 minutes before your session to have enough time to enjoy a few drinks.

Our bar is available to all customers participating in an escape room and can be extended to members of their party who are not participating in the rooms upon request. The best way to reserve a spot is to select the Garden Party option when booking your experience. If this option is not available when you are booking, it means the bar is not open for the time booked. (Note: Please get in contact if you would like to book the bar outside of its usual opening hours). Availability is first in best dressed, so we can't always guarantee a spot even if you select this option. More often than not, we will have plenty of room for you and your group, but with capacity limits and other bookings, we are unable to guarantee your spot unless you make a private booking (see question 5). If we do have space for you and your group, you will have a table reserved for 2 hours after the set finishing time of your room (not your actual finishing time). After the 2 hours is up, you may hang around if our capacity limits allow. You may also arrive before your booking for a few drinks. Please contact us or let us know in the booking notes if you plan to use the bar before your booking. We recommend arriving at least 45 minutes before the start time of your booking to have enough time to enjoy your drinks and not have to rush. (Note: Bookings in the last session of the night are only able to use the bar before their experience as the bar closes before their session will end).

Garden Party is a beer garden, so it is an outdoor area and is subject to the weather. If it's going to be cold, rug up. If it's going to be hot, dress down. If it's raining sideways, the bar may not be the best place to have a few drinks, and we may close the area for the comfort of our staff and customers. There are space heaters and fans, plus a roof over the majority of the area and a small, fully-enclosed seating area, so you should find what you're looking for, rain, hail or shine! The bar currently has a 25-person loading and no smoking facilities.

Garden Party is an area exclusively available to our escape room customers! If you are participating in a room and have some friends or family that want to come along to the bar but don't want to participate in the rooms, please get in contact with us!

If you would like to book the bar for a private party, or would like to have the bar open outside of our usual opening hours, functions are available upon booking! There is no hire charge, but the conditions for private bookings are a $200 minimum spend at the bar. If a minimum spend has been paid, it will reserve the bar privately for your group for two hours after the ending time of your booking. If you would like to hire the bar for longer, a subsequent minimum spending of $300 every two hours will be required. All minimum spends must be arranged and paid for before the booking and are subject to our cancellation policy. Our standard cancellation policy includes this minimum spend, so if you cancel your booking within the cancellation policy that applies to your booking, you forfeit the $200 minimum spend.

If you would like a private function or out-of-hours booking, then yes, you must book. Simply selecting the Garden Party option when booking your experience will usually reserve a space for your group at the bar, however, there may be instances where the bar is closed or privately booked by another group. If you would like to ensure space for your group, the best bet is to contact us before coming in, and we will do our best to arrange space for you.

Out of hours bookings and private functions incur a minimum spend charge, which you will put over the bar as a bar tab. The bar tab must be arranged and paid for prior to the booking and is subject to our cancellation policy.

We can currently have 25 people at the bar at any given time. For larger bookings, we ask that you work with us in regard to capacity limits, as our capacity includes your group and any other groups on the premises.

Yes they are, but need to be with a parent or legal guardian at all times. ​

Why yes, we do. We offer a range of mocktails, and a small selection of non-alcoholic beers and ciders. We also have soft drink and juice available.

We have a small range of complimentary bar snacks available upon purchase of any alcoholic beverage. We allow large groups to organise their own catering to our bar Garden Party. Please contact us before arranging any sort of catering for your group.

You are not allowed to bring anything to the bar unless you have paid a minimum spend and have cleared it with us first. The only exception to this is that we allow a birthday cake (or something similar) to be brought in as long as it has been cleared with staff beforehand. If you are bringing anything that needs to be refrigerated (including cake), please note that we only have a very small area available in our refrigerator for this and do not have any freezer space available. Absolutely no drinks other than water are to be brought to the bar.
